Hi, I'm Christine Nih'shaw! I'm a certified Herbalist and Nutrition Health & Wellness coach, former EMT, member of the NH Commission on Native American Affairs (NHCNAA), an author/illustrator, and Indigenous Language Advocate.
My journey into the world of alternative healthcare started after two life-changing events: a beginning and an ending.
A visit to Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation (South Dakota) to meet the students that use my books in their classroom opened my eyes to the lack of healthy and fresh food choices available at the closest market (an hour away from the Rez). Diabetes and other health issues are rampant amongst our indigenous peoples, but it doesn't have to be our destiny.
The other event was one of the lowest points of my life. I found myself divorced, my children grown, and I was lost. Unhappy with my body and my constantly depleted energy, I knew something had to change. My co-workers and I started a "gut reset" and exercise program so we'd have accountability and support. It was exactly the change I needed!
Not only was I FINALLY able to stick to an exercise plan but I also conquered my own limiting behavior. Certain foods were avoided for the duration to give my gut a total reset. I lost almost 20 pounds and added lean muscle while sending my energy levels through the roof.
I started boxing to get in shape but soon found I was in LOVE with it! I even signed up for a charity boxing event (Punch4Parkinson's) and recently competed in Boston in front of 1,000 people!
I'm loving life now. I have two amazing adult children, an incredible partner (who also happens to be my boxing coach), and more workout clothes than I ever thought I'd own. I've been rescued by a sweet, energetic pup and I'm absolutely passionate about helping others find their path to a more balanced, sustainable life, too.
Let's see where this journey takes us!
